HANUMAN, The Perfect Example for InService

For this year’s V-Con, The V has chosen Sri Rama as its prime symbol to represent this year’s largest convention. Sri Rama is one of the most commonly adored Gods in Indonesia and other countries. And along each journey Sri Rama travelled, he was accompanied by Hanuman.

There are many who want wealth in return for their services. Some do not want wealth, but they cannot resist name and fame. Others do not want any of these, but they want praise. Still others want nothing, but they boast of their deeds.

Hanuman

In the ancient times, Hanuman, the mighty ape that aided Sri Rama in his expedition against evil forces, is one of the most popular idols in Indonesia and countries like Thailand, India, Sri Lanka and etc. Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, knowledge, spirit of selfless service, complete surrender, desirelessness and absence of ego. He never boasted of his bravery and intelligence.

His character tells us what we can do in our lives by aligning ourselves with the forces of good, helping the weak, with self-control, unconditional faith and total surrender. Hanuman’s tale in the epic Ramayana - where he is assigned the responsibility to locate Rama’s wife Sita abducted by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka — is known for its astounding ability to inspire and equip a leader with all the ingredients needed to face ordeals and conquer obstructions in the way of the world.

He was born of the Wind-God and He served Sri Rama with pure love, devotion, selfless service without expecting any fruit in return. He lived only to serve Sri Rama. He was humble, brave and wise.

Which is why, it goes hand in hand that Hanuman be the symbol for this year’s ISB Bootcamp . The chosen InService for this year will serve in V-Indonesia 2012 same way as Hanuman who is always InService to Sri Rama.
