(Starring Sandra Bullock / Directed by John Lee Hancock)
For 17 years,
Michael Oher has been in foster care with different families. Every time
he is sent to a new home, he runs off. After a series of hard
experiences, he falls under the care of the Touhy family, who take him
in and encourage his natural ability for athletics. With their support,
he also develops his academics and slowly learns to recover some hope
for his future, despite this beginnings in poverty and neglect.
In the movie the
main character had a hard life: he was born to an absentee father and a
drug-addicted mother. While the Touhy family were central in helping
him turn his life around, at the end of the movie we see that no matter
what outside influences (good or bad) you encounter in your life, it is
your personal choices that will decide your destiny.
The movie is based on based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis.
